Our Mission Statement
Being members of the family of God, believing in Jesus Christ, and experiencing the Holy Spirit, we come together as one body, to worship, to give and receive fellowship, and through personal committment, to develop individual and corporate faith. Reaching out to our community and to the world, we proclaim the Good News, provide opportunities for spiritual growth, and use our talents and gifts to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ.
Our History
West Chester Presbyterian Church holds a special place in history because it is the oldest continuing fellowship of believers in West Chester Township. The first church building called New Light Presbyterian Church was built in 1842 at the present location. West Chester Presbyterian Church was officially organized in 1869 as a branch of the Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In 1880 the original frame building was torn down and a brick building was built. On July 2, 1881, West Chester Presbyterian Church became an independent church. Over the years, the church has had 15 pastors and numerous additions and remodels. In the 1960s, a Sunday School wing was added. Then in the early 80s the kitchen and gym were completed. Finally, in 1996, the sanctuary was expanded and completely updated and now seats 350 people. Currently, there are just under 300 members including families that are new to West Chester Township and families who have been in the church for generations.
